A peedie bit about me

Hi, I’m Kirstin!
I was lucky enough to grow up in the beautiful Orkney Islands. I’m 28 and have always loved capturing how I see the world. In April 2025, I took the leap to go full-time with my photography. I’ve trained with The Trained Eye and attended Thrive in 2024 and 2025 — a workshop led by top photographers from around the world. I’m always looking for new ways to learn, grow, and refine my style.

My Photography Story

I've been interested in photography since the age of 10, taking a camera everywhere I went, a habit I continue to this day!

When my dog Skye was pregnant with puppies I decided to upgrade my camera to a Nikon D780 and start taking my hobby more seriously, documenting the whole pregnancy. I've since upgraded my kit again to the Nikon Z8.

Since then, I've continued to develop as a photographer, taking my camera with me to weddings, sports events, parties, vintage car rallies and countless adventures!

What I Love

If you hadn't guessed already, I absolutely love animals. I have a couple of labradors, they are my world! Having the two of them has definitely helped when it comes to pet sessions as I've had loads of practice trying to capture action shots with these two energetic pups.

Interests & Hobbies

I'd describe myself as a lipstick tomboy, I love getting all glammed up for a night out but equally as happy if I'm covered in mud from a hike with the dogs.

I love travelling, skiing, catching up with friends, netball, gym, hiking, walking my dogs and of course taking pictures.

Work Experience

Let's work together

For 7 years I worked in the Kirkwall branch of Sutherlands Pharmacy and Photolab and loved learning how the cameras and equipment work.

I took lots of passport photos while I worked there which helped me learn and understand the importance of lighting and flash. Most people dread the thought of getting their passport photo taken so I have lots of practice with people who are not often in front of a camera and learnt how to make them feel comfortable and at ease.
